Just wanted to give a heads up. Thanks to a forum user we now have the objective for the hero quest. All that is missing are a few quotes but that doesn't really affect its usefulness.

Press Q for the Quest Log and look up your First Job quest. Try to delete it and then talk to the Assist Drillmaster again.
If that doesn't work, you can either start a new char, get it to lvl 15 and make that an Assist or e-mail to flyff@gala-net.com and hope that they can help you out. The second method takes time though, most likely longer then when you make a new char.

No, you can't.

You're either choose to lvl as a Master and then get Hero or you stay at Master lvls.

You need to talk to another NPC called "Andy" to continue the quest, not Mustang.
