Skills, details, their effects and requirements V1.4.0

Postby darksaiint » Tue Nov 01, 2005 12:44 pm

People get mixed up with skills, not many people know what a particular skill does or know the requirements. Well..You're in the right place to solve that problem :D

Update History

07/06/07(V1.4.0) Big update. Completely reorganized some skill information for much better legibility(To be completed soon). Many out-dated information and descriptions fixed, some typos arranged also.

11/01/06(V1.3.0)-Good overall update. Revised every skill and made big changes to fix incorrect or out-of-date information(Thanks to the people who informed be about Merkaba Hanzelrusha) Also changed the name of this thread to a better one

21/12/06(V1.2.1)-It has been very long since I made an update, so I thought I'd do one. For now, this is a VERY little update, just fixed some spelling but once the new skill system is released(which should be very soon) I'll do V3. It will be up to date with the new system plus the text will be much more organized and legible.

14/01/06(V1.2)-Added master levels for the Assist skill tree and tweaked some descriptions. Made an "Update History" section so people can view past and/or recent updates.

Index:
1. Assist skill tree
2. Billposter skill tree
3. Ringmaster skill tree

Assist

Heal-(Heal spell,caster/target)Primary heal spell. Recovers your/your target's HP

Level required: 15
Max level: 20
Weapon needed to cast: Stick

Remarks: Heals quite a lot, even at low levels and doesn't sap too much MP, but it is effected by INT and level. The more INT and the higher it is, the more it heals. Highly recommend for FS/RM types as you'll be using till level 70 at least.

Patience-(Buff,caster/target) Gives you/your target a little extra HP. The higher in level, the more it increases

Heal level 3 needed
Character level 18 needed
Max level: 20
Weapon needed to cast: Stick
Remarks: Mediocre buff but extra HP is always welcome. Not really recommend, level 10 is actually enough.

Resurrection-(Resurrection spell, target only)Revives the fainted target, recovering them white some HP and eases the experience penalty a little.

Patience Level 4 needed
Character level 20 needed
Max level 20
Weapon needed to cast: Stick
Remarks: A must have skill. Very useful, especially for parties and Clockworks and such. RMs and FS types should spend some points in this as the HP recovery would be better and experience penalty would be less.

Circle Healing(AoE party heal)A quick casting, long range heal spell that effect your current party, if they are in the range

Resurrection level 4 needed
Character level 25 needed
Max level: 20
Weapon needed to cast: Stick
Remarks: AoE party skills are always good to have, but this doesn't heal much though at low levels at least. FS types should spend a few point, but don't spend anymore than 5 for battle types.

Prevention-(Buff,caster)A life-saving spell that recovers HP when you are critied and left with 0 HP

Circle Healing level 4 needed
Character level 30 needed
Max level: 20
Weapon needed to cast: Stick
Remarks: Better save than sorry. Do spend some points in it for more HP restored.

Quick Step-(Buff,caster/target)Increases your walking speed. The higher the level, the faster you will walk-

Heal Level 3 needed
Character level 18 needed
Max level: 20
Weapon needed to cast: Stick
Remarks: Useful, for getting to other places on foot much quicker. Long lasting and effective even at level 1. Not really a must but still spend some point in it.

Haste-(Buff,caster/target)Increases your attack speed

Quick Step Lv3-Chr lv25-Master lv: 20-Weapon needed to cast: Stick
Remarks: Love this. Extra attack speed is always needed. Level it up!

Cat's Reflex-(Buff,caster/target)Raises your evasion percentage(dodge rate)-Haste Lv4-Chr lv28-Master lv: 20-Weapon needed to cast: Stick
Remarks: Don't see how this works

Cannon Ball-(Buff,caster/target)This handy buff increases your DEX. It also affects your critical hit ratio, evasion rate, accuracy rate and attack speed. Grants +1 DEX each level, for a maximum of +20 DEX-Cat's Reflex Lv4-Chr lv35-Master lv: 20-Weapon needed to cast: Stick
Remarks: Increases DEX. Handy.

Mental Sign-(Buff,caster/target)This buff increases your INT. This also affects your max MP rate, MP recovery rate, magical attack and buff duration. +1 INT each level, for a maximum of +20 INT-Heal Lv3-Chr lv18-Master lv: 20-Weapon needed to cast: Stick
Remarks: Very useful for classes that use INT.

Heap Up-(Buff,caster/target)This increases your STA. This also affects your defense rate, Max FP, FP recovery rate, Max HP, HP recovery rate. +2 STA each level, for a maximum of +40 STA-MentalSign Lv4-Chr lv20-Master lv: 20-Weapon needed to cast: Stick
Remarks: One of the good buffs. Level it up!

Beef Up-(Buff,caster/target)This buff increases your STR which affects your damage. +1 STR each level, for a maximum of +20 STR-Heap Up Lv4-Chr lv25-Master lv: 20-Weapon needed to cast: Stick
Remarks: This is nice too! Increases damage! Lv it up!

Accuracy-(Buff,caster/target)Increases your hit ratio, that means less misses whilst attacking-Beef Up Lv4-Chr lv30-Master lv: 20-Weapon needed to cast: Stick
Remarks: Don't see how this works

Tamping Hole-(Combat)An melee attack that does quite a lot of damage-Heal Lv3-Chr lv20-Master lv: 20-Weapon needed to cast: Knuckle
Remarks: Basic melee skill but not bad, it's a bit slow though.

Stonehand-(Buff,caster only)This gives a chance to stun the opponent. +1 second each lv-Tamping Hole Lv4-Chr lv25-Master lv: 20-Weapon needed to cast: Stick
Remarks: If only this had a longer duration this would be as good as Heap Up, Haste and Cannonball. Lv it up so the stun will last longer.

Burst Crack-(AoE)Smashes the ground and inflicts heavy damage to the surrounding area-Stonehand Lv4-Chr lv28-Master lv: 20-Weapon needed to cast: Knuckle
Remarks: A good low level AoE skill

Power Fist-(Combat)A powerful combat attack, like Tamping Hole but much better!-Burst Crack Lv4-Chr lv35-Master lv: 20-Weapon needed to cast: Knuckle
Remarks: The best melee attack in the Assist skill tree. It's the fastest, and deals the most damage. What else do you want?
If you're gonna be a Billposter, get this to level 5, so you'll have Belial Smashing exactly when you switch class!

Billposter

Belial Smashing:(Combat) A powerful combat move, you punch the opponent brutally and then you land on the other side!-Power fist Lv5-Chr-Lv60-Master lv 10-Weapon needed to cast: Knuckle
Remarks: High damaging skill, master it to get the most out of this.

Asmodeus:(Buff, caster only) Ups damage when using a knuckle. +2 damage for ever level(Uses 1 Skill Poster)-Chr lv60-Master lv 10-Weapon needed to cast: Knuckle
Remarks: A good one, good increase in damage.

Bloody Fist:(Combat)A gruesome skill but a potent one... Damages enemies with every blow and comes with a chance to make them bleed. The intense loss of blood makes them lose HP over time-Belial Smashing Lv2-Chr lv65-Master lv 10-Weapon needed to cast: Knuckle
Remarks: Slightly less damaging than Belial Smashing but the damage from the bleed can be good if you level it up.

Baraqijal Esna(Hex) Lowers the enemy's defence thus increasing damage inflicted to them(Requires a skill poster)-Asmodeus Lv3-Chr lv65-Master lv 10-Weapon needed: Knuckle
Remarks: I found this quite good. Although it consumes skill posters the opponent gets a good increase in inflicted damage. Level it up so the effect will last longer and the skill will decrease more defence.

Piercing Serpent:(AoE) A power AoE which attack enemies in one line-Bloody Fist lv5-Chr lv70-Master lv 10-Weapon: Knuckle

Bgvur Tialbold:(AoE) Another cool AoE, this attacks surrounding enemies, sort of like the Assist's burst crack-Baraqijal Esna Lv5-Chr lv70-Master lv 10-Weapon: Knuckle

Sonichand(Combat)-Does a combo attack, the higher the level, the more combo you will have-Piercing Serpent Lv7-Bgvur Tialbold Lv6-Chr lv75-Master lv 10-Weapon: Knuckle

Asalraalaikum(Combat) This, perhaps the most powerful of all skills in the game. It inflicts really heavy, brutal damage and uses 100 FP and all your MP! It's a bit expensive, but profitable!-Sonichand Lv 7-Chr lv80-Master lv 10-Weapon: Knuckle

Ringmaster

Protect(Buff,caster/target)-This gives +5 DEF each level for a max of +50 DEF when mastered!-Heap up Lv6-Chr lv60-Master lv 10-Weapon: Stick

Holycross(Hex)-Targets afflicted with this suffer double the damage when attacked-Chr lv60-Master lv 1-Weapon: Stick

Gvur Tialla(Cleanse spell)-Removes all current ailments. Requires 1 Bless Poster-Prevention Lv4-Chr lv60-Master lv 3-Weapon: Stick

Holyguard(Buff,caster/target)-This increases elemental resistance or defence against magical attacks-Protect Lv3-Chr lv65-Master lv 10-Weapon: Stick

Spiriture Fortune(Buff,caster/target)-This highly increases your attack rating for a short duration. Consumes 1 Bless Poster-Chr lv65-Master lv 10-Weapon: Stick

Heal Rain(Heal spell,party)-An party healing spell, recovers people which are in a close range-Gvur Tialla Lv3-Chr lv70-Master lv 10-Weapon: Stick

Geburah Tiphreth(Buff, party, doesn't effect the caster)-This awesome buff gives +20 ATK, +20 Attack speed and +20 hit rate to surrounding party members but, it does not affect yourself, unfortunetely-Holyguard Lv4-Spiriture Fortune Lv7-Chr lv75-Master lv 10-Weapon: Stick

Merkaba Hanzelrusha(Combat)-An basic area skill which inflicts damage to your adversaries for a lenght of time-Heal Rain Lv4-Chr lv80-Master lv 10-Weapon: Stick

Thats all folks, hope it helps

Really nice one :) should get pinned.

But you might wanna add which weapons you need to cast a certain skill and what type effect it have (like caster only, target, party or combat).

You are welcome :)

A full skill guide with weapon reqs could have help me a lot back when I started to play, but there was barely anything about FlyFF anywhere. It was too new at that time I guess. I remember it took me a while before I figured I could use stonehand with a stick, I had left that skill alone since it was in the knuckle skill tree.

Also, when Ressurection gets high level, it starts to restore exp percentage when casted. How much though is unknown as nobody in the last beta was really able to get the full details of that info down in terms of when the exp restoration starts, how much it does at what levels, etc. Just keep that in mind.

Also, even though using your buffs will earn them exp, some buffs like Haste, Quick Step, and I think Cat's Reflex don't increase on their effect every single level.
They only increase 4 times.
Skill levels 1-4
Levels 5-10
Levels 11-15
Levels 16-20

So in order to get Haste to truly have an effect, you need to reach that next step.

Also, this is a bit of an issue but everyone should know about it.
Don't settle for odd-number level buffs.
Buffs with an odd number level will have a buff duration time one minute underneath ones with an even-number level, so even when you reach buff level 5 and 11, you'll still wanna shoot for that next level before stopping just for the buff duration.

Oh, and Buff levels do NOT determine the overall length of the buff. It adds a few seconds to the time, but it doesn't not have a significant effect. Buff duration is majorly determined by the amount of INT you have. So keep all that in mind. ^^

A little more.
Patience is a freaking PXP [I Have a Potty Mouth]. So don't worry about getting it past lvl 4 once you get it until your much higher level...like level 50.
Seriously.... oh yeah, that reminds me. The amount of pxp that it cost to use a skill is decreased as your level increases. Hence my note on the Patience usage.
It may seem sucky at first, but at high levels, (unless your a Knight) that extra amount of HP will be more than accepted. (Cause you never know when you might find yourself getting critted down to 15 out of 2K+ HP. Trust me, it'll happen.

So, if I'm a Battle Assist, I have to stop fighting, switch weapons, cast heal, and then put my weapon back on? :?

The Knuckle skills, predictably, use FP. At least, that's what I think. Everything else uses MP.

EDIT: Stonehand uses MP, and it's a Knuckle skill. My mistake.

Postby fraxinus » Sun Nov 06, 2005 6:41 pm

Just wondering, if one has knuckles on, then he can't cast all the heals and buffs?

Buff levels do not stack on one another.
If you have, for example, all lvl12 buffs and someone buffs you with lvl8 buffs, you can't buff over those to increase their level. You have to wait for them to dissapear before you can give yourself your own buffs.

The only thing that changes is the duration. The current duration of whatever buff level is casted on you will be replaced by the duration of your buff level & INT rating.

Oh and as for healing while using knuckles, it's best to use your hotbat and place your stick, knuckle & dhield in hotbars next to each other, so that you can quickly hit esc > stick > heal > knuckle >shield > attack. Doesn't take that long to get it down right. Just needs a little practice.

Don't frett, i'm here. You should focus on Strenght and STA, but you should put some on INT.

OK, here's my take on the Assist-group Skills.
Skill Name (Level Required/Skill Required/Weapon Required)

Heal (Lv15/None/Stick)
Effect: Restores HP to target (caster if no target is selected)
User's Comments: Heal is very useful, but it can afford to have a stronger INT-to-HP ratio at higher levels, as HP at those levels tends to climb higher into the quad digits, and you need to literally be casting it constantly to keep your ally alive late in the game.

Patience (Lv18/Heal 3/Stick)
Effect: Increases HP capacity of target/caster
User's Comments: Patience provides a small portion of extra HP capacity to its recipient. However, it doesn't get to be that much compared to Heap Up of the same level, and it's less PXP-efficient than Heap Up. Some players abandon this after a while, but the extra HP can make the difference between life and death. It's your judgment.

Resurrection (Lv20/Patience 4/Stick)
Effect: Revives a fallen character with some HP
User's Comments: RESS PLOX! RESSSSSSS! WOULD YOU SHUT THE **** UP?! Expect to hear this a lot when you learn this skill. Still, this skill will make you some good partymates as long as they aren't being jerks about it, as it saves them a trip from the nearest Lode plus it, at higher levels, reduces the amount of EXP lost. If you need a res, please, for the love of crap, at the least PUT IN WHERE THE HELL YOU ARE! And if you're ressing, make certain that there aren't any aggros with you or your friend in its range of perception.

Circle Healing (Lv25/Resurrection 4/Stick)
Effect: Heals caster and nearby party members
User's Comments: This skill can heal everyone in a party if they're close, but that's as far as its usefulness goes. It heals less than Heal, it uses more MP, and its PXP-efficiency is very weak. This skill needs some serious tweaking to be more useful. Just get it to 4 and forget it exists thereafter.

Prevention (Lv30/Circle Healing 4/Stick)
Effect: Erects an aura that restores the caster's HP when knocked to zero.
User's Comments: You have no idea how many times this skill saves people. When your HP goes below 10% of capacity, this skill will refresh a percentage of HP proportional to the skill's level. The only problem is it can only be cast on the user; it would be broken otherwise.

Quick Step (Lv20/Heal 3/Stick)
Effect: Increases movement speed
User's Comments: This allows you to get around faster, meaning you can more quickly get away from a mob that's chasing you or more quickly pursue one that's running away. There are a number of uses, but none of them are directly related to combat.

Haste (Lv25/Quick Step 3/Stick)
Effect: Increases attack speed
User's Comments: Heavy MP cost aside, an increase in attack speed is always welcome to anyone that isn't a Mage or FS Assist. Cast this on those people at all times. Is it possible to remake this to increase casting speed as well? It might be broken if that happens, but...

Cat's Reflex (Lv28/Haste 4/Stick)
Effect: Increases blocking rate
User's Comments: It's impossible to tell if this is working due to the fact that block rates aren't shown anywhere in-game. All you can do is have faith and cast this on someone, as the chance to reduce or nullify damage is always valuable.

Cannonball (Lv35/Cat's Reflex 4/Stick)
Effect: Increases DEX rating, thus improving (normal) attack speed, accuracy, and evasion
User's Comments: A very valuable buff to cast on just about anyone, Cannonball increases attack speed (very slightly), accuracy, and evasion when cast. The chance to reduce the time necessary to kill your target is welcome, and the increased chance to evade damage even more so. Cast this on Bow Acros and Rangers, as it increases their damage output, too!

Mental Sign (Lv18/Heal 3/Stick)
Effect: Increases INT rating, thus improving buff duration, magic power, and MP capacity and regeneration
User's Comments: Mental Sign increases the amount of MP you have (useful for a Bill skill), magic power (more healing and magic damage for other classes), and the amount of buff time available. Cast it on Mages as soon as possible, as spells seem to be their main form of damage.

Heap Up (Lv20/Mental Sign 4/Stick)
Effect: Increases STA rating, thus improving defense, HP/FP capacity and regeneration
User's Comments: Mercs and Yo-yo Acros all benefit from the FP boost, but everyone can't help but appreciate extra defense and HP. There are no downsides to this buff, and everyone can use it. Level it to the frickin' moon!

Beef Up (Lv25/Heap Up 4/Stick)
Effect: Increases STR rating, thus improving attack power
User's Comments: The increased attack damage is quite valuable, and Mercs can use it to prolong the duration of their STR-based buffs. Only Mages and Bow Acros shouldn't get this.

Accuracy (Lv30/Beef Up 4/Stick)
Effect: Increases the accuracy of the target/caster.
User's Comments: It's difficult to see if this ability is actually working, as accuracy isn't shown anywhere. However, have faith and cast it; being able to hit more often is always welcome.

Tamping Hole (Lv20/Heal 3/Knuckle)
Effect: Causes increased damage to an enemy
User's Comments: Attack skills never miss, so if an enemy's evading your attacks, use this against them. It's cheap enough to be usable anytime, but it quickly becomes obsolete as more powerful abilities become available. Still, keep it in mind for when you need it.

Stonehand (Lv25/Tamping Hole 4/Stick)
Effect: Applies a probability that the caster's attacks will stun an enemy
User's Comments: The buff duration itself is short, and the effect duration even shorter, but many an Assist have sung the praises of stun-lock. Stunning a monster means that it does less damage to you as it is rendered inable to attack momentarily - this saves on food, healing, and resurrections in the long run. Until you become a Bill, renew this as often as necessary.

Burst Crack (Lv28/Stonehand 4/Knuckle)
Effect: Use the knuckle to strike the ground, causing user-centric area damage. You will automatically approach the target if you have one selected.
User's Comments: Ah, the infamous AOE Assist. This skill is their bread and butter once they learn it, unless they're INT-type AOE, in which case there's something else down the line. The less responsible ones are hated considerably, as they hog all the mobs for themselves while the others have to sit around and wait. If you're going to use this skill, measure how many mobs and players are in your region, and only take as many as you need. If you take more than 5, you really should move to an area with more powerful mobs - you're not getting enough EXP to stay there.

Power Fist (Lv35/Burst Crack 4/Knuckle)
Effect: The character rears up and performs a jumping blow with the knuckle, causing damage to the enemy.
User's Comments: This is a powerful attack that causes greater damage than Tamping Hole, though it costs more FP to do so. In the end, its efficiency takes a dip and it becomes obsolete compared to Bill skills.

Protect (Lv60/Heap Up 6/Stick)
Effect: Increases the target/caster's defense
User's Comments: The first skill a Ringmaster learns, this ability is VERY useful, as it allows the recipient to endure attacks longer in conjunction with Heap Up. Do NOT hesitate to train this skill, NO MATTER WHAT!

Holy Cross (Lv60/None/Stick)
Effect: Doubles inbound damage to the target for a brief time.
User's Comments: A very quirky skill, Holy Cross can allow allies to damage monsters more effectively. Wait until they signal that they're going to use a powerful ability (Asalraalaikum, anyone?) before casting it for maximum results.

Gvur Tialla (Lv60/Prevention 4/Stick)
Effect: Removes afflictions from target.
User's Comments: I have yet to see an actual affliction this late in the game that isn't player-induced. It might have an effect in party duels, but other than that, just max it and stay away. Watch your Bless Poster tally, too.

Holy Guard (Lv65/Protect 3/Stick)
Effect: Increases resistance against magic attacks.
User's Comments: Another PvP ability. I have yet to see a monster inflict anything resembling magic damage. Still, against mages in guild wars this can provide some relief on top of armor benefits.

Spiriture Fortune (Lv65/None/Stick)
Effect: Greatly increases attack power.
User's Comments: This buff's duration is shorter than even Stonehand's! Of course, given the rockin' increase in attack power, one can understand why - link this with Beef Up and other Attack-increasing abilities for even more damage potential. Don't forget to watch your Bless Poster supply.

Heal Rain (Lv70/Gvur Tialla MAX/Stick)
Effect: Heals all allies in the area of effect.
User's Comments: This ability heals all allies for about as much as Heal itself would, but the MP requirements are absurdly high. Get your allies in range before casting this - I know many an RM who wish this thing was more efficient.

Geburah Tiphreth (Lv75/Holy Guard 4/Spiriture Fortune 7/Stick)
Effect: Increases Attack rate and attack speed on all allies in party
User's Comments: This is a very valuable party ability, as it improves the power of all the attackers in the group. The only downside is that it won't affect you. It also uses plenty of MP and a Bless Poster.

Merkaba Hanzelrusha (Lv80/Heal Rain 4/Stick)
Effect: Gradual damage to one target and all enemies around the target
User's Comments: A late-game skill for the Ringmaster, but a very powerful ability nonetheless. Slap it on a monster and watch it erode the monsters your allies are fighting! Since Ringmasters have large amounts of INT anyway, the damage will be considerable.

Belial Smashing (Lv60/Power Fist 5/Knuckle)
Effect: Inflicts damage to one enemy
User's Comments: While it costs a considerable amount in the end, Belial Smashing causes plenty of damage - more so than a reasonably-leveled Power Fist. It's a good idea to max this out as soon as possible if you plan on using this to the exclusion of the Assist attack skills.

Asmodeus (Lv60/None/Knuckle)
Effect: Increases knuckle attack power
User's Comments: A nice, if expensive, buff for a Billposter. This increases the Bill's attack power, but not to the extent which Spiriture Fortune does. It could use a bit more power behind it, and you need a Skill Poster to use it. You must keep your knuckle equipped for it to remain in effect.

Blood Fist (Lv65/Belial Smashing 2/Knuckle)
Effect: Causes damage and may cause target to bleed
User's Comments: While less damaging than Belial Smashing, Blood Fist has the added effect of causing the target to start bleeding. This is valuable in that it causes the victim of this attack to lose HP over time, making the fight easier to win. Just keep an eye on your FP.

Baraqijal Esna (Lv65/Asmodeus 3/Knuckle)
Effect: Slightly increases target's Attack rate but lowers their Defense rate
User's Comments: This ability is evil - it causes the target to gain attack power, making it easier for them to kill you, but it also reduces their defense power, making it easier for you to kill them. The defense drop is greater than the attack drop, so press the advantage and kill them quickly.

Piercing Serpent (Lv70/Blood Fist 5/Knuckle)
Effect: Hits enemies in a line from the user
User's Comments: This is a STR-based AOE that hits enemies in a line from the user. Valuable enough in that it can give AOE builds a way to get some EXP, but dangerous to people who are unwary of their surroundings.

Bgvur Tialbold (Lv70/Baraqijal Esna 5/Knuckle)
Effect: Damages enemies around the target
User's Comments: This is, strangely enough, an INT-based AOE. This gives INT some use for an AOE Bill, but one should watch what they do anyway to prevent drawing unwanted attention.

Sonichand (Lv75/Piercing Serpent 7/Bgvur Tialbold 6/Knuckle)
Effect: Damages a single enemy
User's Comments: It is unknown if this is a STR- or INT-based attack or if it hits multiple times - many things are said about it. I have to investigate myself to know for sure.

Asalraalaikum (Lv80/Sonichand 7/Knuckle)
Effect: Inflicts heavy damage based on MP expended
User's Comments: The legendary Billposter skill, this inflicts untold levels of damage on the unfortunate recipient of this attack. Against monsters, they will fold very quickly. Against players, the damage is bound to be vulgar.

EDIT 1: I got Prevention and Accuracy recently.

EDIT 2: I got the final two skills last night. This should be its final form. Also, the cap for Assist skills is 20, while the Vagrant and Billposter/Ringmaster skill cap is 10. By the way, does anyone know if you can still raise Assist skills as a Billposter?

EDIT 3: Yes, you can raise Assist skills as a Billposter, but they tend to become obsolete quickly. I'm also putting Ring and Bill skills in.
